Make your own cleaning products

For me, balancing the hormones is crucial. One way to help with this is to make your own cleaning products - free from endocrine disrupting harsh chemicals. I have put below, a few good homemade recipes which work wonders!

Clean your home with 8 Simple ingedients

Vinegar - a natural bi-product of vegetables, fruits and grains - acidic. The acid breaks down grease and kills bacteria.

Epsom Salt - a gentle, cleaning and scouring agent, also serving as a catalyst for other ingredients.

Soda Water - carbonated H20, this creates a small amount of carbonic acid and the fizz helps to shift stains.

Lemon/Organe - high in citric acid, breaks down grease and kills bacteria. Limonene is a naturally occuring hydrocarbon, usually found in the rinds of citrus fruits, deodorising and de-greasing.

Cream of Tartar - Potassium bitarate an acidic salt. Cleans and removes stains because of its acidic properties and mildly abrasive.

Bi-carb - alkaline, discinfectant, deodorising.

Soap nuts - The shell conatins saponin, a natural detergent.

Castille soap - buy organic, which is free from SLS and SLES, parabens.

I'm a big fan of Riverford Veg Boxes and they supply some amazing recipes. Here is one of my favourites.

Crushed Broad Bean Pesto

600g young broad beans in their pods, 1 Lemon, 4 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp grated parmesan or veggie equivalent, 2 tbsp finely chopped mint leaves, pinch of dried chilli flakes, 1 garlic clove.

Pod the beans and boil in water for 3mins. Skin the broad beans, then mash up. Finely zest the lemon, then squeeze the juice of one half of the lemon into the beans. Stir in the olive oil, lemon zest, parmesan, mint and chilli. Enjoy!
